Low Carbon Communities 2021-22 Grant Program

The NS Department of Natural Resources and Renewables is pleased to open the 2021-22  Low Carbon Communities (LCC) provincial funding program.  We are inviting community groups, municipalities, First Nations Bands, post-secondary institutions, businesses, and non-profit organizations that have projects that benefit communities within Nova Scotia to submit an Expression of Interest to get the application process started. 

Support is available for buildings, electricity, transportation, and other projects that have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Funding can be used for community planning, feasibility studies, learning by doing, education and innovative solutions. 

Timeline: We will be accepting Expressions of Interest until November 15th and accepting completed Applications until November 18th, 2021.  Projects have a completion date of December 2022.

Funding: Projects are eligible for funding up to 75% of their total project costs, and the remaining matching may be completed through in-kind contributions and other sources.

Step 1: Review Program (attached)
Step 2: Express your Interest by November 15th, 2021 (link)
Step 3: Receive an Application from staff.
Step 4: Submit your Application by November 18th, 2021.
