Lloyd's Register (LR) promotes high technical standards throughout marine, offshore and land-based industries for the purpose of enhancing the safety of life and property. Classification, certification and advisory services are provided by more than 4500 technical and administrative staff based in 280 offices worldwide. LR publishes Rules and Regulations for ships and other marine structures, including fixed and mobile offshore structure, lifting appliance, submersibles and diving systems. LR provides statutory certification to the marine and offshore industries on behalf of many governments and also provides independent design review, inspection and certification for compliance with national or international codes or standards.
