Shortly before the holidays, the Province announced it had appointed CustomerFirst Renewables (CFR) as the Procurement Administrator; the press release can be found here.

The appointment is for the upcoming Green Choice Program, which will allow large energy customers in the Province to procure up to 100% of their energy needs from new local renewable energy sources. Our priority is enabling customers to achieve their environmental and climate change goals on the ambitious timelines they have publicly committed to.

The Nova Scotia Department of Energy and Mines has also retained CustomerFirst Renewables to support stakeholder consultation and engagement related to the Green Choice Program’s design, planning, and regulation. The Department and CFR will be collaborating to host two webinar information sessions with the intent to give a high-level overview of the Green Choice Program and provide opportunities for further engagement.

This initial phase of stakeholder engagement and program design will continue until March 2021. Starting in April, customer participants will be asked to express their interest in participating the Green Choice Program. The renewable energy procurement process for the Green Choice Program is set to begin in April with deeper engagement with key stakeholders on the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), and the Request for Proposal (RFP) form and content. Further details and information will be forthcoming.
