Energy Pioneer: Tim Brownlow
Halifax, NS
Apr 26, 2012

Halifax, NS – The Maritimes Energy Association – OTANS is pleased to announce that the 2012 Energy Pioneer Award recipient is Mr. Tim Brownlow. A gala dinner will be held in recognition of the award and Mr. Brownlow’s accomplishments on Thursday, 26 April 2012 at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax.

In July 2011, Tim Brownlow was nominated by the Board of Directors of OTANS, in recognition of his lengthy career in the energy industry and his particular contributions to establishing regulations and policy for the offshore industry in Nova Scotia.

“Tim has done it all in the energy industry,” says association Chair Joe Fitzharris, “particularly in the offshore oil and gas sector. He has made a huge contribution to the industry and to this association, so it is only appropriate that in our 30th anniversary year he finally has agreed to accept the Pioneer Award honour.”

Brownlow’s decades of experience in the offshore oil and gas sector includes involvement from discovery through to production for both the Sable Offshore Energy Project and the Cohasset-Panuke project. He began his offshore career in the oil and natural gas industry in 1978 working for such companies as ODECO Drilling, Magcobar, and Rowan Companies Inc., both domestically and internationally. In 1990, he joined the Nova Scotia government, holding positions as Petroleum Operations Officer, Director of Benefits & Training and Chief Advisor for the Department of Natural Resources and the Offshore Energy Office.

He is currently Director of Government Affairs and Business Development with Irving Shipbuilding Inc. Brownlow also did a stint with Kiewit Energy Canada Corporation as Business Development Manager in Calgary, Alberta.

Brownlow has contributed to a number of boards and committees, including: the Premier’s Energy Advisory Council, the Offshore/Onshore Technologies Association of Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Energy Roundtable, the Grampian Regional Council (Aberdeen, Scotland), the World Energy Cities Council, and the Federal/Provincial Regulatory Review Committee.
